Mayra is Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) who has 18 years of experience working with children and adults with special needs. Mayra completed her Medical Surgeon Degree in the University Popular Autonomous of Puebla and worked as a medical practitioner and Emergency Medicine Doctor (E.R.) in Mexico. After her son’s diagnosis of Severe Autism and Cerebral Palsy she became strongly involved in the world of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). In 2007 Mayra started her career as a Behavior Interventionist and Parent Trainer in EU. Mayra completed her advanced courses of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) at the National University in Costa Mesa California and in 2015 Mayra obtained her BCBA certification. Additionally in March 2015 Mayra completed her training in ADOS-2 (Autism Diagnosis Observation Schedule, second edition).
Mayra has experience in many leadership roles as Supervisor, Parent Trainer, Quality Case Manager, Clinical Director and Regional Director. In April 2023 Mayra founded her own ABA agency “Beautiful Minds ABA PLLC” company that was created with care and compassion for each of the families we serve. As a CEO of Beautiful Minds, Mayra’s mission is to improve the life of people with Autism and their families by providing an effective treatment that is tailored to each child while empowering her employees to learn the effectiveness of ABA strategies.
Mayra is fluent in English and Spanish and Proficient in American Sign Language and has extensive experience in Pivotal Response Treatment (PRT).
During her residence in California Mayra had 12 years of Volunteering in a Non-Profit Organization that educates and supports families whose children have Autism, as a director assistant and board member. In 2018 Mayra moved to Texas and immediately got involved with the community. Currently she is a board member of Island Joy Riders.org, a non-profit organization that provides free horse-riding training session for kids with special needs and their families. In August 2023 Mayra sit on the Board of Directors for the ARC of Harris County; nonprofit, organized in 1984 as an affiliated chapter of The Arc of Texas and The Arc of The US. The Arc is the Largest national community-based organization advocating for and serving people with intellectual disabilities and their families. In addition, Mayra volunteers with Autism Society of Texas running their weekly Spanish support group and providing workshops and training for parents and professionals during their Health Care Professional Training Program.
Mayra have also experience conducting workshop trainings for parents and staff on different cites and countries (Irvine, Cerritos, Anaheim, Santa Clarita, San Bernardino in California; and Mexico City, Puebla and Queretaro in Mexico). She has participated as a speaker on the ABA annual conferences in Mexico City.
